Earn a generous stipend, a Masters in Teaching degree from the University of Washington, and the opportunity to impact the lives of students in Seattle Public Schools who are furthest from educational justice.
Application Process for Candidates
- 1.Let us know you’re interested in the Seattle Teacher Residency program. Sign up for our mailing list to receive updates on application dates and requirements.
- 2. Review the eligibility and application requirements.
- 3. Attend an information session. Info sessions are held twice a month online and in-person by request of organization or candidate.
- 4. Meet with a recruiter. To help you stay on track with your application requirements, you can schedule an appointment, in-person, over the phone or remotely. We’re here to help answer any questions you might have about the program.

Over 80% of STR graduates remain teaching in Seattle Public Schools by their 5th year.
77% of Cohort 11 identify as Black, Indigenous, Asian, Hispanic/Latinx or multiracial.
Over 50% of STR graduates identify as people of color, compared to the Seattle Public Schools' average of 20%.
Over 1/3rd of Seattle Public School's Title I elementary hires have graduated from the STR program.
